Born in Dublin in 1970, Nuala Ní Chonchúir is a full-time fiction writer and poet, living in Galway county. She has published two collections of short fiction and two poetry collections - one in an anthology. Nuala holds a BA in Irish from Trinity College Dublin and a Masters in Translation Studies (Irish/English) from Dublin City University. She has worked as an arts administrator in theatre and in a writers' centre; as a translator, as a bookseller and also in a university library. Nuala teaches creative writing on a part-time basis.

Nuala’s poetry and fiction have appeared in publications such as New Irish Writing in The Sunday Tribune, Poetry Ireland Review, The SHOp, The Stinging Fly, Irish Pages, Black Mountain Review, Litro (UK), Pen Pusher (UK), Garm Lu ( Canada) and Southlight (UK).

Anthologies

Her poetry has appeared in the US anthology Generation X: In Their Own Words and the UK anthology 100 Poets Against The War.

Her fiction in These Are Our Lives; The Irish Feminist Review; Honeysuckle, Honeyjuice: A Tribute to James Liddy; The Cúirt Annual; Splinters.

Non-fiction has appeared in the County Lines, Sunday Miscellany, Quiet Quarter and A Sense of Place anthologies, and she has work forthcoming in the UK anthology Crowning Glory.

Radio

Nuala’s short fiction, non-fiction and poetry have featured on RTÉ radio, on the Francis Mac Manus broadcasts, on Sunday Miscellany and The Enchanted Way. Her non-fiction has featured on Lyric FM’s The Quiet Quarter.

Translation

Nuala’s translations of Caitlín Maude’s poetry have appeared in Poetry Ireland Review, Irish Pages and The SHOp. Her translation work will also feature in a forthcoming anthology from Cló Iar-Chonnachta, edited by Frankie Sewell (2008). She is currently translating Micheál Ó Conghaile's novel Sna Fir to English.

Reviewing

Nuala reviews fiction and poetry for The Irish Book Review, The New Welsh Review and The Stinging Fly; she has also reviewed for The Sandstone Review, Vallum and Women’s Studies Review.
